Behind the Mask
/Behind the Mask, written and directed by Catherine Andre '17, premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival earlier this month.
This time-traveling family drama set in the world of theater was Catherine's thesis film at the American Film Institute Conservatory. After the death of a famous actor, his estranged daughter discovers a magical THEATER MASK that transports her back in time, to a grand stage, where she comes face to face with him as a young man. This father-daughter reconciliation story is a must-see for anyone who loves Shakespeare, enjoys work by emerging filmmakers, or has a flawed parent. Ultimately, it's a film about how we can't change the past, but we can make peace with it.
