Me in 50 words or less: I tell stories through video. I'm a director, cinematographer, and producer pursuing my own documentary and narrative projects, and producing work for brands around the world.
Department: East Asian Studies
Bio
I’m a director, cinematographer, and producer. I’ve made all sorts of films in my 20 years as a professional filmmaker, and my work has appeared on the BBC, Discovery, Dragon TV, ESPN, International Channel Shanghai, iQiyi, National Geographic, The Olympic Channel, Tencent, and in festivals around the world.
In my own work I tend to gravitate towards verite documentary filmmaking … with a heightened cinema aesthetic. When it comes to scripted filmmaking, I like adding a touch of magical realism. But more than anything I just like telling stories with moving pictures, and I love exploring different styles and techniques.
Born in Mexico and raised in Texas, I was based in Shanghai and Hong Kong from 2002-2022. I am currently based in Dallas and work internationally.
