The Show Must Go On
/I write with good news! The last few years have brought multiple poetry and book publications: The Show Must Go On (Fernwood Press 2025), Dear Beautiful Gay (The Poetry Box 2025), and Erasures of My Coming Out (Letter) (The Poetry Box 2021). At age 50, I received my MFA in Poetry from Vermont College of Fine Arts. The perfect mid-life crisis pursuit! While there, I was fortunate to study with Betsy Sholl, David Wojahn, Parneshia Jones, Nance Van Winckel, Philip Metres, Kathleen Graber, and Leslie Ullman, who advised my critical thesis: “An Exploration of Sibling Loss in Marie Howe’s What the Living Do and Anne Carson’s Nox.” It was a remarkable continuation and evolution of my undergraduate studies and English degree at Princeton. I still linger in my classes with Elaine Showalter, Ann Jones, Diana Fuss, and the late Toni Morrison.
