Bio

Jeanette Beebe is an audio producer, fact checker, journalist, and writer, mostly of poems. She was named a finalist for the Iowa Review Award in Poetry, and her poems have appeared in The Chattahoochee Review, Crab Creek Review, Juked, New South, and Salamander. Nominated for Best New Poets and a Pushcart Prize, she formerly served as social media manager for Nat. Brut, winner of a Whiting Literary Magazine Prize. She got into poetry through spoken word, with stage-to-page poems stapled into zines — a journey that led her to the Brave New Voices Poetry Slam as a member of Minneapolis/St. Paul’s team. Her reporting has appeared in Time, Scientific American, Popular Science, Fast Company, and NPR member station WHYY, and she has supported several podcasts. Her work as a freelance recordist has been broadcast by the BBC, Gimlet Media, and NPR/ProPublica’s “Lost Mothers” series, and she supported The COVID Tracking Project at The Atlantic on the reporting/outreach and editorial/comms teams. For three years, she wrote a daily newsletter featuring New Jersey's best journalism for the Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University. And she has a bit of video experience, including collaboratively producing an award-winning short about the ‘old boys club.’ She served as an M.A. Scholar at NYU’s Science, Health, & Environmental Reporting Program, and she holds an A.B. in English from Princeton University with certificates in Creative Writing and Gender & Sexuality Studies. She lives in Akron, Ohio’s Highland Square neighborhood.
