"Until We Fill the Ocean" - by IS/LAND: A Performance Collaborative

Until we fill the ocean poster

"Until We Fill the Ocean" is an immersive, multidisciplinary performance that honors the stories and poetry of detainees at Angel Island Immigration Station in Northern California (1910–1940) while encouraging audiences to reflect on broader patterns of intolerance and discrimination currently affecting all marginalized populations in our socio-political landscape.

This performance is made possible by the support of The Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation, Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission (MAPAAC), Rising Voices, and the Riverside Arts Center. Special thanks to Cully Sommers and the Detroit Public Library.

IS/LAND is a performance collaborative composed of AANHPI artists, including S. Jean Lee '00. IS/LAND’s work centers AANHPI storytelling and lived experience, inviting audiences into a space of reflection, remembrance, and dialogue. Through interdisciplinary performance, they explore identity, migration, and collective memory with deep emotional and visual impact.

This event is FREE and open to the public.
