The Seven Ravens by Marisol Rosa-Shapiro '07

Seven Ravens Poster

THE SEVEN RAVENS, written and directed by Marisol Rosa-Shapiro '07, will premiere November 14-16, at NYC's Bank Street Theater, produced by The New School in partnership with The New Victory Theatre's LabWorks program.

When a young girl makes a shocking discovery about the history of her family, she embarks on a challenging quest to reunite with loved ones she's never met. Weaving a little-known Brothers Grimm tale with the experiences of child migrants, refugees, unaccompanied minors, and displaced youth across the globe, The Seven Ravens explores the meaning of home, the love of family, and the lengths to which a child may go to build bridges to her own lost past. A playful, imaginative, and visually arresting work, The Seven Ravens celebrates the resilience, imagination, resourcefulness, and tenacity of children living through displacement, separation, and dreams of reunion in the face of great odds, shedding light on one of today's most pressing sociopolitical issues through the lenses of allegory, fantasy, and play.

This new work of theater for families and young audiences ages 7+ has been developed in residencies at The New Victory Theater/LabWorks in NYC; Drop Forge and Tool in Hudson, NY; and the Barn Arts Collective in Bass Harbor, ME, and received a 2017 Travel Grant from the Network of Ensemble Theaters.
