Robocopera: Half-Man, Half-Machine, All Mother at the Green Room 42

Robocopera Poster

Ever wonder what Robocop would be like adapted into a fully realized grand opera, in which every male role were sung by one (very pregnant) soprano? Then this special performance of Robocopera is for you!

After a sold-out workshop debut at PIT SOLOCOM '26 and oversold concert at the National Opera Center's Scorca Hall this March, Nikki Muller '05 is bringing her new one-woman parody opera, Robocopera, back for a one-night performance on Saturday May 9-- poetically timing this Mother's Day weekend show during her third trimester of pregnancy.

Plucking scenes from the 1987 action movie and translating them into German, French, and Italian lyrics for arias in a variety of operatic styles, librettist comedian, soprano, comp lit major and expectant mother Nikki Muller presents a satirical love letter to both opera and Verhoeven's film. Interspersed by metacommentary videos that offer a crash course in opera history and Robocop lore, the show features virtuosic music and accompaniment from renowned composer/conductor/pianist Brian Holman, plus live cue card subtitles, puppetry, and-- of course-- a dream ballet featuring Jason Rosario as ED-209. It's a campy, madcap, gender-bending fever dream of high-meets-low brow comedy that will delight seasoned opera fans, fan boys, and everyone in between... except maybe Timothée Chalamet.

The show will take place on Saturday, May 9 at 8PM, and will be followed by a talkback Q&A moderated by fellow Princeton arts alumna, Laura Winn Clark, during which they'll chat about the genesis of this unique new piece, the act of creating, and finding joy in the deeply nerdy.
