Please join us for one of three upcoming presentations on Nicaraguan artist Roberto de la Selva. De las Selva, a contemporary of Diego Rivera and others, was renowned in his own time, but has been mostly forgotten. He was a sculptor, mostly of pieces in bas-relief, but painted his only known murals in a small deserted village in New Jersey, Feltville or Glenside Park.
The first event, "Hidden Murals and a Lost Artist: Roberto de la Selva" will take place at the Summit Public Library, Summit, NJ, on September 25, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. This event will feature Priscilla Hayes and Ron Burkard, both of whom have done extensive research on the artist; Burkard owns the largest collection of de la Selva's art.
Two additional presentations will take place at Feltville itself, on October 18 and 19, 2025, during the annual Four Centuries in a Weekend history event there. Both presentations will take place at 2:00 p.m. in Masker's Barn. For information on the site, see https://ucnj.org/parks-recreation/deserted-village/.
All events are free and open to the public.
